Meeting at the Crossroads

There are many events that occur in a person’s life that create a “crossroads” moment that can influence how they will make future decisions.   Just like a journey on a highway, some of these moments are simple, such as should I take the express route or should I take the scenic route.  Other times, it is a detour that prevents us from traveling the most efficient and effective path (in our opinion) to our intended destination.  In the end, these crossroads help mold and shape us into the people that we are today.

In 2019, I was approached by a member of my extended family, Shanna Jordan, regarding an idea that she had to create an anthology of faith-based works to help raise money for the scholarship program that she has run for the past few years.  She wanted to not only show those who would seek assistance through her scholarship program that they could overcome any challenges that they may face, but to also share with the world that no matter what crossroad they may come to, in the end, they can and will overcome and be victorious.  As you may have read, I was approached in 2019.  We know what transpired in 2020.

In the beginning of 2020, a group of people met to discuss the purpose of the book and the expectation from Shanna on what she would like for us to present to the world.  Suffice it to say, I was humbled and intrigued all at the same time.  I was humbled that I would be asked to share with the world an event that helped shape me into the person that I am today and intrigued of the idea that my story could potentially help someone who was at a crossroad in their lives recognize that they can achieve victory in their lives.  Victory.  It is a word that has so many connotations to success.  For some, it means overcoming other competitors in a competition to win.  For others, it means reaching the pinnacle of a dream.  But for some, victory is accomplishing something that no one in their family has ever accomplished before.  Whether it is graduating from high school, going to college or purchasing a home, victory takes on many shapes and forms.   Thus, the inspiration for the book.

The title of the anthology is “Crossroads to Victory.”  In the book, there are many stories of people who encountered crossroads in their lives that could have either set them down a path that could have resulted in a delay or making the necessary decisions in their lives to achieve victory.  The organization that inspired the name of the book is call My Name is Victory (https://www.mnivictory.com/).  This organization provides scholarships to deserving students in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties.  The book can be purchased on Amazon in either paperback or electronic book Amazon.com : Crossroads to Victory.  A portion of the proceeds from every sale goes to My Name is Victory’s mission.  For more information about the organization, please email info@mnivictory.com.

In closing, I would like to thank the other Victory writers who shared their stories, their hearts and their faith.  To Shanna for allowing all of us the opportunity to help you spread the word about your organization. Finally, I would like to thank those of you who decide to support this organization by either purchasing a book or contributing directly to the organization.
